In Greece mythology Panacea was the goddess of healing, daughter of Asclepius (god of medicine) and Epigone (goddess of sedation). She had five sisters and four brothers, who were all in the service of health-prevention, diagnostics, rehabilitation, surgery, etc. Panacea is a term for a medicine that can heal all illnesses and would extend one’s life to infinity. In alchemy it is related to the elixir of life and the philosophers stone.
